Links “disappear” on some forums — what’s actually going on?

I’ve noticed that on certain forums, links sometimes look like they’re missing. A user says they posted a URL, but I don’t see it at all—then later it shows up after I log in, reach a certain trust level, or reply to the thread. Other times it’s visible but not clickable, or it’s replaced with something like “[link removed]”.

This is pretty normal behavior on a lot of platforms. Many forums restrict outbound links for new accounts (or guests) until you’ve met a minimum post count, account age, or reputation level. It’s one of the simplest ways to keep low-effort spam from flooding discussions. If you want a quick overview of patterns people run into, see hidden links in forums https://backlink.forum/ touches on the common configurations and what to check first.
